RFID Journal Adds Airbus as Keynote Speaker at the Third Annual RFID Journal LIVE! Europe Conference and Exhibition
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 7, 2007 -- RFID Journal, the world's leading media and events company covering radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, announced today that Carlo K. Nizam, head of value-chain visibility and RFID at Airbus, will deliver a keynote address at RFID Journal LIVE! Europe. RFID Journal's third annual conference and exhibition in Europe will be held 6-8 November 2007, at the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam.
Airbus has started to implement RFID technology based on the positive results it achieved during its industrial pilot programme. Nizam, Airbus's RFID leader, will explain how the use of RFID is part of an integrated, company-wide approach to help streamline business processes and reduce the cost of operations for all value-chain partners. He will also describe pilot results and current deployment plans, as well as how Airbus is considering using RFID across two main categories: non-flyable and flyable.
? Non-flyable refers to ground-based processes including supply chain, transportation, logistics, manufacturing and assembly-related applications
? Flyable refers to all in-service processes and includes operational, maintenance and payload-tracking applications.
As head of value chain visibility and RFID, Nizam is leading the strategic development, industrialization and execution of all RFID activities across Airbus. Carlo's previous roles span aircraft design, operations management, procurement and supply-chain management.
"We have done a great deal of work to evaluate RFID's potential to improve business processes and reduce costs across the value chain," said Nazim. "We are pleased to be able to share our integrated, company-wide approach to RFID with the audience at RFID Journal LIVE! Europe."
"We are very excited to have Carlo Nizam presenting at RFID Journal LIVE! Europe," said Mark Roberti, founder and editor of RFID Journal. "Airbus is taking a holistic approach to RFID that goes beyond simply part marking, and I think manufacturers across Europe will be eager to learn how it is making this carefully planned approach work."
The focus of this year's RFID Journal LIVE! Europe is on how European companies can cut costs and improve revenues by implementing RFID in their manufacturing, supply-chain and logistics operations.
The event will open with two preconference seminars:
? RFID Journal University, which offers an introduction to RFID
? RFID in the Cold Chain, which explains how RFID can benefit companies tracking temperature-sensitive products
Other featured speakers will include:
? Wolfgang Schoenfeld, Senior Manager Logistics Europe, Sony
? Keith Ulrich, Director of Technology & Innovation Management, DHL Innovation Center
? Gerd Wolfram, Managing Director, Metro AG
? Andrew Higginson, Logistics Service Line Manager, Rolls-Royce
? Jens Moelvig, Major, Danish Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organisation
? Dimitri Desmons, VP of RFID Marketing, Impinj
? Rover van Mierlo, Director of Logistics, Schuitema
? Filipe Ferreira, General Manager, Vicaima
? Tonny Gravesen, Chief Operations Officer, Container Centralen
? Gabriel Nasser, IT Director, The Jewelry Store
? Stephane Pique, European Director of EPC/RFID, EPCglobal--GS1 Europe
"This is the only event where companies from across Europe and Asia can hear objective case studies from those already using RFID within their organizations," Roberti said. "I have no doubt that companies attending will come away with new ideas for how they can put RFID to work successful and be able to meet vendors who can help them achieve their goals."
